Form a letter using glue on paper and sprinkle glitter, sand, or dried peas, what ever you like, onto the glue.  Shake off the excess to reveal the letter.  They might like to create their whole name. Often if a child is not keen on holding a pen they might like to use glue or their fingers to form letters.
